Learn more about Texas' history and archeology as we share stories from the road.
Feb. 29, 2016 - TxDOT Archeology Reports Available on New Website
In fact, since 2001, TxDOT has discovered more than 23 archeological sites – each one adding to Texas’ archeological record and history.
For each discovery, TxDOT’s archeologists and consultants produce in-depth technical research reports detailing the site analysis and artifacts – many of which are available for download or purchase upon request. Through a new research tool, the reports are now accessible online for free at the Index of Texas Archaeology (ITA) hosted by Stephen F. Austin University.
Reports will periodically posted to the ITA, so check back and dig deeper into Texas’ history as we discover new archeological sites.
