Notice of Newly Adopted Rules
Please be aware that newly adopted administrative rules regarding commercial signs along interstate and primary highways have been updated and can be found online under Title 43 of the Texas Administrative Code Chapter 21, Sub Chapter I. The rules are effective as of Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
TxDOT regulates commercial signs along Texas highways under the Highway Beautification Act and highways and roads located outside of the corporate limits of cities, towns and villages under the State Rural Roads Act. Outdoor advertising does not include signs located within the state right of way, including traffic signs, memorial signs or logo signs.

Rules and Regulations
Sign owners may need to obtain an outdoor advertising license and permit, depending on location and other regulations. You must have an outdoor advertising license issued to you prior to applying for a permit. For more information, review the Texas Administrative Code:
