The Texas Department of Transportation is co-hosting an informational meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, regarding the upcoming reconstruction of US 180 from Gunsolus Creek in Breckenridge to SH 67 east of the city. TxDOT staff will be joined by representatives of the contractor, Prater Equipment Co. Inc. of Comanche, to inform the residents and business owners of construction impacts to driveways and side street access along the route during the two-year construction period. Construction is scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016.

This $13.4 million project will reconstruct the roadway, feature a center turning lane the full length of the 2.3 mile project, and will add new curbs, gutters and sidewalks from Gunsolus Creek to 500 feet east of Melrose Ave (County Road 239).

Improvements include:

  • Four 12-foot travel lanes, shoulders varying in width from 3.5 feet to 5 feet, with new curbs and gutters for a portion of the length of the project.
  • Five foot sidewalks and ADA curb ramps to accommodate pedestrians, from Gunsolus Creek to 500 feet east of Melrose Ave. (CR 239).
  • New continuous center turning lane from Graham Street to SH 67.

All interested citizens are invited to visit with staff regarding the project.
