TxDOT is hosting an open house regarding the proposed bridge replacement project on FM 1878 (E. Starr Avenue) at La Nana Creek in Nacogdoches County. This event is being held to display the proposed improvements, explain where TxDOT is within the project development process, answer questions and gather input. The open house will be held in a come and go format where you can visit with TxDOT staff one-on-one regarding the project.

TxDOT is proposing to replace the existing bridge on FM 1878 (E. Starr Avenue), which is adjacent to the Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU) campus and the La Nana Creek trail in Pecan Park, a City of Nacogdoches park. The project would be designed to enhance safety by meeting current design standards and would include:

  • Four 11-foot travel lanes
  • Five-foot paved shoulders that may be used by bicycles
  • Addition of two 5-foot sidewalks on each side
  • Addition of bridge rails that will separate vehicular and pedestrian traffic

With these improvements, bridge weight limits would also be removed. No new right of way or displacements would be required for the proposed project.

If you plan to attend the open house and have special communication or accommodation needs, please call (936) 633-4395 or use the email below no later than Nov. 29, 2016, to request assistance.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
