Purpose: This notice is to advise the public that the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed Mile 6 West Road Project from Mile 9 North to SH 107 in Hidalgo County, Texas.
Description: The proposed Mile 6 West Road project would consist of an urban and a rural roadway section. The urban section (from Mile 9 North to Mile 11 North) would generally consist of the following:
  • Four 12-foot-wide travel lanes (two lanes in each direction)
  • 14-foot-wide continuous center left turn lane
  • Two 10-foot-wide shoulders
  • Six-foot-wide sidewalks on each side of the roadway
  • Overall pavement width of 82 feet
  • Storm sewer system including 24-inch, 30-inch and 60-inch diameter drain pipes with multiple drainage inlets along the roadway
The rural section (from Mile 11 North to SH 107) would generally consist of the following:
  • Four 11-foot-wide travel lanes (two lanes in each direction)
  • 8-foot-wide shoulders
  • Overall pavement width varying from 60 to 76 feet
  • Portions of the rural section would accommodate a middle turning lane at intersections, which would generally be 16-feet-wide
  • Other portions of the rural section would not contain a middle turning lane
  • Storm water would be conveyed to existing outfalls via roadside ditches
The overall right of way (ROW) would be 104 feet for both the urban and rural sections. Additional ROW totaling approximately 2.3 acres would be required to provide for the enhanced safety and operational improvements of the project.
