A section of Interstate 20 South Frontage Road in Longview will receive a new riding surface this year according to plans approved in May by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

“We will be resurfacing a 1.1-mile section of the highway from US 259 in Gregg County to Loop 281 in Harrison County,” said Ray Brady, area engineer for TxDOT in Marshall.  “The old pavement will be removed, the base materials strengthened and then the entire roadway will be repaved.”

East Texas Bridge of Longview was awarded the contract for the construction project with a bid of $2.4 million.

"Work on the project should begin in August and take about four months to complete," Brady said.
