A section of State Highway 149 in northwestern Panola County will receive a new riding surface during next year according to plans approved in December by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be resurfacing a 6.5-mile section of the highway from the Rusk County Line at Tatum to Farm-to-Market Road 124 in Beckville,” said Ray Brady, area engineer for TxDOT in Marshall. “In addition to the pavement work, we will also be replacing and upgrading all the bridge rail and metal beam guard fence along this section of highway.”
Madden Contracting Company of Minden, La., was awarded the contract for the construction project with a bid of $4.0 million.
Work on the project should begin in March and take about six months to complete, Brady said.
