Project Overview
The TxDOT Odessa District, in partnership with the Permian Basin MPO (PBMPO), initiated a corridor study in 2016 to develop a program of improvements for the I-20 Odessa-Midland corridor. The corridor study focuses on the stretch of I-20 in the Odessa-Midland area from FM 1936 to near FM 1208, a distance of approximately 40 miles. Improvements will include adding main lanes, constructing new interchanges, reconfiguring ramps, and converting frontage roads from two-way operation to one-way operation, as well as capacity, operational and drainage improvements for most of the corridor. Currently, the study team is working on a schematic design for the corridor.
Public Involvement
Public input is a key component of TxDOT's decisionmaking process. A series of public meetings was conducted in Midland and Odessa on March 25 and 26, respectively. Display boards and schematics from the meetings can be downloaded from the links below.
More information about earlier public involvement efforts is available on the Permian Basin MPO website.
