Del Río-Ciudad Acuña International Bridge
This four-lane bridge is 2,035 feet long. Originally constructed in 1930, it was reconstructed in 1987.
The crossing is also known locally as Del Río International Bridge, Puente Acuña and Puente Ciudad Acuña-Ciudad Del Río.
This bridge receives a mix of pedestrians, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. It experiences heavy commercial-vehicle traffic during peak hours. Identified needs include traffic signal synchronization, intelligent transportation system (ITS) devices (such as traffic cameras or dynamic signs) and improved separation of vehicles traveling southbound to the port of entry and vehicles driving within Del Rio.
More information is available from the City of Del Rio.
At the end of the study, improvements will be recommended based upon identified needs of the border crossings. If you would like to comment on the study, please email us.
